The quality of your tattoo depends on how you care for it

There are two types of bandages our shop uses depending on the scope of the tattoo work, please follow the instructions based on which bandage was used.

Clear Bandage process:

Step 1: Leave the Saniderm bandage on for the first 2 - 3 days. Some pooling or drainage of fluid from the tattoo is normal, but if the bandage fills entirely and or starts to leak from the seams, IT'S TIME TO TAKE OFF YOUR BANDAGE whether or not it has been the full

2 - 3 days.

Step 2: REMOVING The Clear Bandage:

Wash hands before removing the bandage. In the shower or over the sink, gently stretch the skin and peel each corner back slowly. Position yourself so the water hits underneath the bandage as you are removing. Soaping up the area also helps with the removal. Gently peel the rest of the bandage off, wash the tattoo and the surrounding area with a mild hand soap or anti-bacterial soap and water, and pat dry with a paper towel. Skip to step 3.

Traditional bandage process:

Leave on for a few hours after appointment, then remove and go to step 3.

Step 3: Continue to wash your new tattoo using only your hands (no washcloth) with antibacterial soap and warm water. Follow up with our recommended tattoo ointment available for purchase at the studio. Apply a few times a day for the next 2 weeks or until the tattoo looks and feels completely healed.

A THIN layer of ointment is all you need. With clean, freshly washed hands, rub ointment throughly into the tattoo for maximum absorption.

While your tattoo is healing

  • DO NOT PICK / SCRATCH / RUB

       If it is itchy - apply a thin layer of ointment

  • NO TIGHT CLOTHING/ SHOES ON TATTOO! Aggressive rubbing can cause aggravation and even infection.

  • Avoid sun exposure on the fresh tattoo for the first 2 weeks/ABSOLUTELY NO TANNING;

       even in tanning beds. No spray tanning, as it is chemicals

  • After the tattoo is healed, SPF 30-50 is recommended while out in the sun to keep your tattoo from fading and damage from sun exposure

  • NO SWIMMING/use of hot tubs/saunas/ baths for the first two weeks!

  • take daily showers- no more than 15 minutes long
